Sermon given by Revd Sue McCoan 4th August 2024 Genesis 3; 2 Samuel 11:26 – 12:13 The story of Adam and Eve is a universal story – the characters tell us something about the whole human condition. By contrast, the story of King David is very specific, relating to one individual. We can think of […]
Looking for a leader
Sermon: Looking for a leader (7th July: 3 days after a General Election) from Revd Sue McCoan 2 Samuel 5:1-5, 9-10 Mark 6:1-13 The matter of leadership looms large in the bible. The people of God were meant to be led by God, but they have usually needed someone on earth to guide them in […]
Synod Eco Day
The Thames North Synod held an ‘Eco Day’ on Saturday 8th June. This was the second such event: the first was held a year ago at Cores End URC, in a beautiful rural context. This year was at the Vine URC in Ilford, just off a bustling high street. Quite a contrast, but both churches […]

St. Andrew’s is pleased to be taking part in a Thames North Synod project to display Christian art in ‘plain sight’ – in well visited areas. In our case, the wall next to the kitchen in the main reception. The print on display will change every month, over a two year cycle.
Sing to the Lord a new song
Sermon given by Revd Sue McCoan 5th May 2024 Readings Psalm 98; John 15: 9-17 Many years ago, Jamie and I went to visit my brother in Australia and stayed on for a holiday. We had a wonderful time, including, in Queensland, a trip on a glass-bottomed boat over a coral reef. It was amazing. […]
