Friends and colleagues gathered from across the country to celebrate Revd Dr Elizabeth Welch’s 50 years of service as a Minister in the United Reformed Church.
The congregation heard tributes from:
Revd Michael Burns, Anglican priest at Christ the Cornerstone, Milton Keynes, during Elizabeth’s time there.
Simon Rowntree who was West Midlands Synod Clerk when Elizabeth started as West Midland Moderator in 1996.
Stephen Curtis, a member and church secretary of St Barnabas United Church and Christian Centre, Langney (Elizabeth’s first pastorate), and one of those present at her ordination.
Revd Sue McCoan, recently retired minister from St Andrews, Ealing.
Revd Nigel Uden, a former Synod Moderator (in Southern Synod) and a previous Moderator of General Assembly, now retired. Elizabeth was a colleague of his during her time of service as West Midlands Synod Moderator.
Revd George Watt, Moderator of the Thames North Synod interviewed Elizabeth about her calling and preached the sermon.
